Jada School Visit

We spent an amazing day at the Jada School on Saturday enjoying the children's drama, drumming, soccer game, and most of all their beautiful smiles.

Jada School is a school for the deaf, blind, and mentally disabled.  We took them donations of books, soccer balls, and the girls picked some of their stuffed animals to donate.
In the first picture the students are signing "I love you" after we had given them the donations.
The second picture is of the deaf students performing a drama for us.

Emma made a new friend with a little girl that had recently lost her tooth.  Emma related to her because she is about to lose her first tooth.

Here is a picture of the headmaster after we gave him the gifts.  Addie even went up and gave him one of her books and shook his hand!

Here are some of the boys playing soccer.  They were most excited about the donation of soccer balls!

Field Day at the Community School

Field Day at the Community School was very eventful...
Emma loved jumping rope and passing the ball the best.  Addie much rather preferred sitting on LaLa's lap eating a muffin than participating with her class, as you can see from the picture.

The drama happened at the end of the event when LaLa left her wallet with her passport and air ticket in the bathroom by mistake and someone took it.  She will fly to Abuja to the embassy to get a new passport.  Her stay in Nigeria couldn't be without drama and it was one way of getting her to stay longer:).

Thanksgiving Celebration

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and were so thankful that LaLa was here to celebrate with us.
Harvey even found a turkey in the market! The girls made their thankful turkey hats like we do every year.  Emma was most thankful for her new Wii game player, her teacher and new friend. Addie was most thankful for dresses and oatmeal (she eats every morning).
So many things to be thankful for...family, friends, health, and having this experience in Africa.

Hiatus...Sorry

For those who read this, sorry.  Things get hectic sometimes and I forget about the blog.  Anwho, this will be a brief entry (not Jess brief) as I will post again tomorrow.  I just had a minute to blog so I thought I would put something up.

Well the past week has been exciting.  Jess got back from the US and Lala (Linda) came.  I went to meet her in Abuja to help her with the connection to Yola.  All went smoothly and Linda is adjusting to Naija life well.  She especially likes taking car rides in our little Honda ;)

Our time in Abuja was brief but pleasant.  Here is a pic of the National Mosque...Sorry if you have already seen this.

Linda is exploring Yola and Jimeta, and had the opportunity to go to the market with us.  The following picture is right outside of the beer distributor.  There is good beer here, we have a guiness brewery that brews Guiness and Harp, Nigerian Breweries Limited brews Star and Gulder as well as heineken under license.  Jess and I are partial to Harp.   (For those familiar with Fragile Rock, you may recognize the sacred trash heep.  I believe the men in front are seeking her sagacious advice.)

The market run was fine.  It was actually quite mellow today.  We got the necessities and the girls visited the tailor to have dresses made.

Today is Founders day and the installation of our President (Margee Ensign).  I'll post more on this tomorrow as long as I don't pass out from dehydration.

All is well and you'll hear from us soon!!!

THE END
